ABOUT LEAGUE EDSTREME
On the 8th January 2009, League Edstreme played its first league games in Purbrook Park School’s Sports Hall in Purbrook, Hampshire. The league was between 6 teams that came together to form a league in memory of Ed Reading (pictured to the left) who was known by all that played.
The League was started by Sean Reading in memory and named after his brother Ed Reading, who passed away in July 2007 from a condition known as Sudden Death Syndrome, during a football match. He was a keen and talented footballer whose memory will live on forever with League Edstreme.
Since the League started in January 2009 League Edstreme has grown and moved out of the Sports Hall at Purbrook Park to the City of Portsmouth Girls School where we played on an all weather pitch.
In April 2011 Sean Reading and close friend Phil
George registered League Edstreme as a Partnership allowing us to grow the league and raise more money for Cardiac Risk in the Young.
Then, in July 2011, League Edstreme moved to its current location at Priory School in Fratton, making the most of the larger pitches and the astro turf surface, whilst also increasing from a 6-a-side league to a 7-a-side league.
In June 2014 Sean Reading and
Phil George along with the players of League Edstreme announced that
since the league started in 2009, £10,000 has been raised for Cardiac
Risk in the Young. In May 2017 our fundraising total went past £30,000 after a hugely successful charity pitch day at Fratton Park.
With a fantastic footballing community behind us we were able to establish Team Edstreme to hold full 90 minute games at recognised grounds around the country, such as Fratton Park, the Madejski Stadium and StadiumMK, offering our players a fantastic experience while also raising money for charity.
